Yellow excavator digging trench on residential lot

Right-Sizing Equipment For The Job

We own a range of equipment — mini-excavators, mid-size and full-size crawlers, skid steers, dozers, dump trucks. Showing up with the wrong one wastes a day. Showing up with the right one is half the job.

Residential lots want mini-ex, not crawler

On a tight residential lot in Rockwall or Tyler — 10,000 to 20,000 sq ft — a mini-excavator gets the work done without wrecking the driveway, the sod, or the neighbor's good will. The bucket is smaller, but it can reach into spots a full-size machine can't fit, and it doesn't crack the concrete driveway it parks on.

We see contractors show up with whatever's on the trailer that morning. If it's a 30-ton crawler on a 10,000 sq ft lot, the customer eats the damage. We bring the right machine instead.

Ranch acreage wants the big machine

Open pasture work — pond excavation, mass clearing, dirt hauling — wants the full-size equipment. A mini-ex digging a 1-acre pond on a 20-acre ranch will take a week. The right machine does it in a day or two. Hourly cost is higher but total cost is lower.

We match equipment to the acreage and the scope. Ranchers in Van Zandt and Hunt counties get the right-size every time — usually a 30-ton excavator paired with a dozer for the spreading.

Skid steers do the cleanup work

After the heavy machine pulls off, a skid steer does the final grading, the brush cleanup, and the tight-access work near structures. It's the most versatile piece on the truck and it shows up on almost every job.

Bottom Line

The contractor that brings the wrong machine is the contractor that has to come back twice. We pick the right equipment at the bid, not the morning of.
